This book examines some of the key debates in urbanism from the 1950s to the present day. The aim is to identify both the new and the not-so-new, as well as the continuities and ruptures, the influences and innovations that have shaped contemporary urban discourse. For this purpose, twenty contemporary urban planners from two generations have been selected and paired. By reviewing their work on ten recurring themes in the urban planning debate, the aim is to promote knowledge and dialogue between the different perspectives and visions that have shaped and continue to shape current urban planning thought and practice.
